ABOUT
The Cooper Gallery merges over 50 years of travel photography with the modern development of digital post-production and limited-edition printing with high resolution (360 ppi) Epson printers (SureColor 5370) and pigment inks designed to last 200 years. Images are printed on Canson Infinity Arches 88 matte paper for the painterly feeling Cooper desires. The final prints are signed, numbered, embossed with the LGC chop, and framed in archival-quality materials ready for hanging.
Lee Cooper is Professor Emeritus at UCLA and has returned to printmaking after a 50-year hiatus. He has been accepted as a Member of TAG - The Artists Gallery. All artist's proceeds are donated to NGO partners, currently the Los Angeles Ballet, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and Conservation International. See the "Services" tab for more information.
Preserving moments
Real time goes too fast.
This image of sunrise in Cádiz, Spain, arose in a moment and changed in a moment. To take in its beauty takes more time than real time provides.
Telling Longer Stories in Time and Distance
Real time goes too fast.
Even in this tranquil image of strollers at La Caleta near sunset tells a longer story, At actual scale, the strollers are clearly seen all the way to Castillo de San Sebastian. Strolling on the colonnade to watch the sunset is a rite of passage in a relationship. In good ones the strolls continue. Cádiz is a very old port city, with many centuries of stories to tell. The Spanish blew up Castillo de San Sebastian during the Spanish-American War so that America could not use it. Millennia earlier, this site housed the Temple of Kronos, honoring the father of Zeus. This photo was taken in the year before the fortress was reopened to the public after many years. Now it is even more populated. Older locals tell of diving off the white pavilion at the left safely into deep water. The tides, which strand many barcos when low, now never come close to the pavilion when high.

Organizing the UCLA Community Around the Arts
1975
By the mid-1970s even business schools had shed many of their traditional trappings and embraced community development around their creative sides. This is Cooper in rehearsal for a play he produced and directed with students, faculty, and staffs taking on different roles than the classroom standard. The year before he created a Faculty/Staff Art Show. The year after he produced Arts Week '76 with many kinds of performances, talks, and exhibits.
